Weekly Roundup: Travel Planning & Unrelated Nonsense

February 8, 2015 By Heather

2.8.15_RoundupFor the record, spin class instructor, five seconds isn’t “rest”. I mean really, why don’t you just have us keep sprinting? Tired.

  • This week I’ve really been pondering over whether to write a post about the measles vaccine, but I think I’ll stay out of the fray. Mostly. Alright. I can’t help it: did you know Iran, Russia, Zimbabwe and other countries have better measles vaccination rates than the United States?  I know “collective” memory is short as shit, but wow. If viruses could be high fiving “our” collective stupidity and hypocrisy right now, they would be.
  • On a lighter note, I’m eagerly awaiting temporada (season) three of Isabel, my favorite Spanish (from Spain) show. Hoping DramaFever or Hulu (or anyone, really) picks these up soon. I’m a huge fan of Michelle Jenner and think this show is fantastic, not only for improving my Spanish but for learning about Spanish history. Dying to go to La Alhambra now.
  • This whole shopping challenge thing is getting rough. As spring rolls around, and bright colors roll in, I’m digging through my closet for the under-worn and under-loved and avoiding all the stupid sale emails. On the upside, I’ve been much more creative with my outfits, and actually worn some things outside of the usual rotation this week. But I can’t help but gawk. These shoes? How perfect they would be for flying and then heading to the beach. But the pretties will not be mine.
  • Going to Jamaica in May for DH’s brother’s 30th. Excited to have another trip on the books…do you think we can squeeze in one more…thinking after two beach vacations I’d opt for something a bit more historical or city-ish (or, cough, La Alhambra). And I’ve neglected to even really talk about Kenya yet….eeeeekkkk so excited.
  • Also booked the dog’s vacation in April! That’s probably the most important trip of the year. I can’t wait for her to romp in the sand and hunt for dead crabs to roll in.

That’s all! Have a great week.
